Protecting the environment and affecting the climate as little as possible is important to us at eGain. Through our work, we contribute on a daily basis to better and more efficient energy use. But our commitment does not stop there. We strive to make our work climate neutral. Therefore, we make carbon offsets to compensate for our emissions.
“Gröna handslaget” (the green handshake) is the name of the certificate we at eGain give to our customers who have demonstrated successful work in environmental and climate issues over the past year. Smart energy use is an important step in the transition to a climate-smart society. We at eGain want to do our share by rewarding property owners who contribute to tomorrow's energy supply.

eGain have been working purposefully for many years to reduce and optimize our customers climate impact. In 2016, we reduced our customers' CO2 emissions by about 21,780 tonnes, which is fantastic!
In order to further engage in our own internal environmental impact, we now take the next step and fully compensate for our own CO2-emissions through a Climate Compensation. The idea of climate compensation is that you should do the right thing. We want to replace our own climate impact by compensating for the carbon dioxide emissions we contribute to, for example, from travels and CO2-emissions from our offices that during 2016 was summed up to 59 tonnes of CO2.
We do this by calculating our CO2 emissions annually for our offices and travels. With these calculations as a starting point, we then compensate the emissions in tonnes, in cooperation with Tricorona Climate Partner, a Swedish company that helps companies and organizations take their environmental responsibility.
The project we have chosen to support for the eGain 2016 compensation is called "Florestal St Maria", a project that works against the negative development by ensuring sustainable forestry in the Amazon. This is done by planting new forests, but also by preserving the existing forest. For example, a 28,000 hectare area is preserved, original trees and plants are replanted and the climate impact is reduced by 1 000 000 tonnes of CO2 over a 10-year period.
The project also contributes positively socially by attracting other investments that contribute to development in the area.
